BEYOND the Backstretch is an organization and event series that supports Thoroughbred aftercare while elevating awareness and appreciation for the breed’s versatility and life beyond the racetrack.

Our mission is to champion second chances for retired racehorses and shine a light on the value and unmatched versatility of the Thoroughbred, while fundraising for Thoroughbred Aftercare.

How BEYOND the Backstretch Creates Impact

1. Annual BEYOND the Backstretch Horse Show (BTbHS)
Our signature event showcases Thoroughbreds thriving in second careers across multiple disciplines. The show features Thoroughbred Incentive Program (TIP) classes, USEF Outreach classes, and additional divisions designed to highlight the breed’s versatility. Proceeds from the event directly support our selected Thoroughbred aftercare partners.

2. Partner Horse Shows & Featured Divisions
Through partnerships with host barns and established horse shows, BEYOND the Backstretch offers featured divisions that expand our reach into new disciplines and audiences. A portion of each division’s entry fees is donated back to BEYOND the Backstretch, with 100% of those funds directed to Thoroughbred aftercare.

3. Fundraising & Educational Events
We host community-based events, educational opportunities, auctions, raffles, and sponsor-driven initiatives throughout the year. These efforts raise awareness, engage supporters, and generate critical funding—each initiative reinforcing our commitment to Thoroughbred aftercare.

Rather than a one-time gift, sponsorship and participation create a platform that funds professional events, generates additional aftercare donations through entries and participation, and showcases the athleticism and versatility of Thoroughbreds in second careers.
